  186. Yes, if he purchases the DDI/DKI (Device Driver Interface / Device Kernel
  187. Interface) for the Motorola 68000 Processor family  from Prentice Hall and
  188. reads the Atari release notes for ASV.

  195. Utter rubbish! You do not need access to source code to write device drivers.
  196. However, it does make it easier when you have access to other device drivers
  197. to use as examples, but it is not impossible.  In fact quite a few of our
  198. customers have added device drivers to their kernel which is shipped in binary
  199. format only.
  200.         To add a device driver to ASV simply requires re-linking the kernel not
  201. rebuilding it. If the driver is a standard one, (disk, tape, floppy, parallel
  202. port, serial i/o, ...)  the autoconfiguration software will automatically add
  203. the new driver. i.e. if you plug in a SCSI tape device the software will
  204. auto-magically relink your kernel with the SCSI tape driver.
  205.  
  206.         Looking at your postings, I have found it quite incredible that you
  207. have had the nerve to comment about a product that you have never seen let
  208. alone  used. As the original thread of this usenet discussion was about owners
  209. of ASV, I guess that leaves you out from further constructive comment.

  238. May I suggest that for those with physical disabilities such an ability is
  239. very important.  Some people cannot use their hands (at least not well) -
  240. for such people typewriters are poor ergonomic designs indeed.  Mice sometimes
  241. are easier for such persons to use.

  244. sound like a software designer for IBM (or is that Apple) :-) :-) :-)....

  282. I noticed you wre having some trouble with a Dungeon Master level. I have the
  283. Amiga version, but I understand the game is the same on all platforms (a friend
  284. of mine has an AppleII GS and the version of DM he had was identical as far as
  285. the layout was concerned). I have a "hint book" which is unfortunately not
  286. right in front of me. I will try to get ahold of it and see if I can answer
  287. your question. Since I just got on this list, what is it you need to know?

  339. on that level, you just have to find them and descend deeper, deeper...
  340. It's amazing how much is really down there, I still get confused about
  341. where I am really.  But anyway find the doors and stairs, the RA keys are
  342. down there, along with *TONS* of other really cool stuff... (not to mention
  343. some pretty nasty beasties of course...)

  368. In the UK, you can get bubble-jet drivers (including HP Deskjet Plus and
  369. 500) from the distrubutors of Calligrapher, Working Title. What's more,
  370. they're completely free.

  373. UK, but you may be able to get them from the US distributor of Calligrapher.

  417. Well I am not a hardware expert, but I do know that the BLiTTER has been
  418. installed in all the new machines, that includes the regular STE's, the
  419. Mega STE's, and the TT.  (only the last one is a 68030, the others are the
  420. usual 68000, with the Mega STE with a 16 MHz CPU...)
  421.  
  422.         I believe that the BLiTTER is automatically utilized by GEM programs
  423. and such (somone else comment, I don't know the specifics), I have seen it
  424. on the Mega STE and the windows really do fly open and shut, maybe this is
  425. also because of the 16 MHz clock speed...  Anyway I'm SURE someone else
  426. knows about this more specifically.  :-)

  447. uni.passau.de (by way of archie).  Unfortunately, I am not allowed to ftp to
  448. sites outside of North America.  Would it be possible for someone who can ftp

  450. on the NA continent).  Please?

  474.         Actually, this has already been done, but I have no idea *which*
  475. one of the gobs of TSR's and utilities that I have running does it.  I've
  476. got *something* that will show me the character set if I hit the INSERT
  477. key while in the file selector.  I am using UIS III on my ST but I am not
  478. sure if it is the nice culprit giving me the character set.
  479.         Durned if I am going to break out all the manuals and start trying
  480. to isolate which utility is providing this service, but it does work.  You
  481. can even construct the top or bottom half of "Bob" in your file name with
  482. this thing.
  483.         Unfortunately, this only shows up in the file selector box.

  584. I've bought INTERLINK when I needed a terminal program.  I soon realized
  585. some small bugs which made it not very usefull for me.  One of them was
  586. a wrong behaviour when using the EVE editor on VAX/VMS 5.x .  I then
  587. became aware of UNITERM, which I'm using now.  I recommend UNITERM as
  588. the best terminal program I've ever seen.

  590. Recently another terminal program (OPTERM05) has been posted to
  591. comp.binaries.atari.st , but I didn't check it.

  641.    experience programming under Unix, calling TeX, nroff/troff, Gnu
  642.    C obscure pd stuff. You can't buy humour this good.
